We're thrilled to offer you the unique opportunity to be a part of the Backwoods' story by owning a cask of whisky crafted with care and dedication.

Choose between our award-winning single malt or rye spirit, and select your preferred cask type. Your selected spirit will be expertly handcrafted and carefully matured within our private bond store. As part of this unique offer, you're invited to visit our bond store and inscribe a handwritten name or note on your barrel.

After a patient maturation period of 2-3 years, overseen by the Backwoods' Founders, your whisky will reach its peak flavour profile. At this stage, we'll bottle your whisky with personalised labels.

Inclusions and Exclusions

Experience the complete process of cask ownership with Backwoods Distilling Co. From selecting your spirit to bottling your personalised whisky, we ensure a memorable journey every step of the way.

Included in the Price:

  • 1x 20L Cask: Filled with your choice of Backwoods' signature Single Malt or Rye Spirit (nb: other size casks may be available on request. Get in touch to discuss).
  • Maturation Period: The cask is housed in Backwoods' bond store for the maturation period (typically 2-3 years, determined by the Backwoods team).
  • Sample and Bottling Options: Upon maturation, you'll receive a sample and the option to bottle at cask strength or 46% ABV. Your whisky will be bottled with personalised labels (bottling assistance may be available at Backwoods' discretion).
  • Bottling Details: Your whisky will be bottled in 500ml bottles, with the cask yielding approximately 35-40 bottles depending on the chosen ABV.
  • Refill Option: You'll have the option to refill your cask or have it sent with your bottles.
  • Inclusions: Price includes the spirit, cask, bottles, labels, GST, and excise.

Not Included in the Price:

  • Freight: Freight to ship your bottles (and cask if requested) is not included. A quote will be provided at the time of fulfillment.
The Process

Here's how the process works:

  1. Place Your Order: Choose your preferred spirit and cask type to begin the journey. Payment must be made up front to secure your cask.
  2. Confirmation and Timeline: Once your order and payment is received, we'll reach out to confirm the details and provide an estimated timeline for your cask fill. The duration may vary depending on the spirit style and cask type selected.
  3. Cask Filling Confirmation: You'll receive confirmation once your cask is filled, along with a certificate containing all the details of your unique cask.
  4. Maturation Experience: During the maturation period, you're invited to schedule a visit to our private bond store. Please arrange the visit in advance to ensure access to your cask.
  5. Sample Selection: When we believe your whisky has reached its peak, we'll send you a sample at cask strength and 46% ABV. This allows you to choose the bottling ABV that best suits your taste.
  6. Bottling and Collection: We'll determine a bottling date, and if feasible, you're welcome to join us to assist with bottling and collect your whisky. Alternatively, we can arrange freight for delivery (shipping costs will be provided upon request).
  7. Cask Refilling Option: At the appropriate time, we'll discuss the possibility of refilling your cask, providing you with continued ownership and maturation opportunities.
