A Whisky That Could Only Be Made in Australia

Our Special Reserve Series is where we showcase one-off whisky bottlings that celebrate the best of our grains, barrels and craftsmanship. This release, matured in French and American oak casks that previously held Australian Cream Apera and Corn Whisky, features malted barley smoked with red gum wood – creating a whisky that’s unmistakably Australian. With only 350 bottles produced, it’s a true collector’s release.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Crafted with 100% Australian-grown barley, including a red gum–smoked batch for a nostalgic Australian flavour.

  • Matured in casks that have held locally produced Apera and Corn Whisky, adding layers of sweetness and complexity.

  • A smooth, complex single malt with notes of campfire smoke, toffee, figs, raisins, smoked honey and vanilla.

  • Part of our acclaimed Special Reserve Series – our previous release took out the trophy for Best Australian Single Malt at the Australian International Spirits Awards.

This whisky captures what Backwoods is all about: defining a distinctly Australian whisky style, shaped by local grains, native red gum, and the High Country climate. Once these 350 bottles are gone, they won’t be repeated – making this release a special piece of Backwoods history.
